Huge Announcement + First NMF

A label you'll recognize.

Hey You,

As you know and have probably read, we have been working on more industry interviews, covering everything from music PR to platforms for Artists. We are proud of this work and love to chat with people in the know, who give us tips, tricks, and more insider info than ever before.

Over the last few weeks, we had the delightful opportunity to chat with a member of the PR team at 1824, the wonderful brains behind many of the fantastic campaigns and coverage you see from Universal Music Group.

Yes. UMG. That UMG. The UMG, whose label roster includes Def Jam Recordings, Island Records, Virgin Records, Interscope, Capitol Music Group and many many more.

So what does that mean for us?

Well, for us, it means we have incredible access to up-and-coming artists. Before Doechii was a TikTok craze and before Chappell Roan hit the headlines, these PR teams were hard at work.

And for those lucky enough to have heard of them before all the fame, those moments are because of the people behind the scenes. And we are proud to be one of them.

And for you?

We will now have hand-picked New Music Friday music direct from the team, playlists, interviews, and press conference access with artists before they become everyone’s favourite artists.

We’re not going to increase the mailouts, you’ll still see us every Friday like clockwork. Instead, we will mix up the content a little more, featuring artists we love from UMG and our own finds, as well as keeping the long-form opinion pieces that you’re used to.

So, since we’re making the announcement, we thought we'd give you the first New Music Friday picks from the 1824 team (the first playlist we got our hands on) and we’ll highlight a couple of the tracks we LOVE.

NMF Picks

Enjoy the whole playlist, and remember you can save it and move it to your preferred platform with FreeYourMusic.

Now for our picks! It wasn’t easy, so we selected five each that are our jams.

First up:

  • Amen, Shaboozey and Jelly Roll, “it has everything that you love from A Bar Song Tipsy, but slowed and the addition of Jelly Roll, what’s not to love?”.

  • Brunette and Wind Up Missin’ You, Tucker Wetmore: “It would be fair to say I love country music, and I’ve been listening to Wind Up Missin’ You since early 2024. The opening of Brunette had me HOOKED.”

  • Lovesick Lullaby, YUNGBLUD “I’m a sucker for a track that mixes talking over the music, singing, and feels British to the extreme. You can feel the punk influence as well.”

  • how u been? Natalie Jane “It gives me very stong Habits (Stay High), Tove Lo vibes, and I haven’t had that in a long time.”

Now for our second set of picks!

  • What Was ThatLorde, It gives me this amazing throwback to the teenager years with this little add of carefree and first love problems, which blends perfectly for a bit of a nostalgia feeling.

  • Heart by Heart - Joe Jonas, just listen to the music of this song; amazing vocals and lyrics with the spark of connection that never fades. It feels like two souls beating as one.

  • buzzkill - Lyn Lapid, it’s a sad song, but to be honest, who can’t relate? Everyone has their highs and lows, and this track reminds you that you’re not the only one. Remember, it’s okay to kill the vibe when you’re not feeling it, especially when you’re feeling everything instead.

  • Air (feat. Julia Michaels)Gryffin, Excision, Julia Michaels, If you like pulsing bass, this one is for you. It captures the emotional turbulence of a relationship on the edge. And honestly, everyone’s been there.

  • Don't Let Me Go - Tom Odell (FAV), he never disappoints. Emotional ballad about closeness and comfort. It literally feels like a late-night confession, a reminder of how deeply we all crave to be held onto when we’re the most vulnerable.

As part of our ongoing efforts to increase our content offerings, we will be working on a SongsBrew podcast and creating SongsBrew playlists worth saving. Once they are live, we will announce them so you can enjoy them.

Excited for what’s to come? We sure are!
