If you grew up watching TRL with the volume at an unreasonable level and you have never quite recovered from that era, IDIOT is going to do something to you.

IS MEGG A REGULAR ON OUR PLAYLISTS?

Wasn’t, but we checked out idc and then got a sneak preview of Idiot, and we’re all in.

MEGG is South Bay, LA-born, Nashville-based, and doing something very specific. Not the watered-down pop punk that followed the genre's early 2000s commercial peak. The actual thing, which is nice - we missed it. Massive hooks, punk-driven production, the reckless energy of a house party that is slightly out of control in exactly the right way.

IDIOT is the lead single from Low Life Club Deluxe, arriving May 29th ahead of the full deluxe release on June 26th. The premise is straightforward, and the execution is anything but. The track is about accepting that nobody has it figured out - damned if you do, damned if you don't - and choosing to embrace the chaos rather than fight it. The quote from the press release does the rest of the work: "I'm just a pig rolling in the shit of it all, and if that makes me an idiot, then I guess the shoe fits." That is a songwriter who knows exactly what they are doing.

We’re very sure that the lyrics are gunna resonate across more than a few generations. They sure did with us; we spent the week blasting it. Megg gives us hope that Courtney Love, Avril Lavigne, and Brody Dalle of the world are here to save us - one pissed-off lyric at a time.

The Good Charlotte-MOD SUN comparison in the press release is accurate and slightly undersells it. There is Hayley Williams' firepower in the vocals and Joan Jett's refusal to apologize for anything in the attitude. The hooks are enormous, and they arrive early, and they stay. This is the kind of track that is stuck in your head real easy, so expect you to be singing to yourself that you’re an idiot for the rest of the day.

MEGG is not a new artist finding her feet. Vans Warped Tour, stages shared with The Used and KISS, KROQ and Sirius XM radio play, the national anthem at Crypto.com Arena. She knows how to write a song, and she knows how to perform one. IDIOT sounds like an artist exactly where they should be. We can’t wait to hear more from megg and we’re sure this one is gunna hit radiowaves very soon.

MEGG drops her new single IDIOT today. Built on massive pop melodies and punk-driven production. We’re all idiots.
