Submit music

Free, when everyone else charges: Nobody has ever paid to be in SongsBrew. There's no fee to submit, no fee to be considered, no priority queue you can buy your way into. We make our money from sponsorship, which means we don't need to make it from you. Paying us wouldn't get you anywhere anyway. There's nowhere to move up to. If it's right for us, we'll write about it. If it isn't, we won't, and money doesn't change that in either direction.

What we're listening for: Unsigned to majors, we don't care. Genre, we don't care. This year we've written about zydeco, streetpunk, phonk, free jazz, gospel-rooted soul and a Ukrainian funk record made during air raids. Monthly listeners don't come into it. We've given 5/5 to an artist with a few hundred and 2/5 to one with forty million.

What we need: A link. That's the one that really matters. Spotify, Bandcamp, private SoundCloud, YouTube, whatever you've got. Then the title, the release date or TBC, and who you are. Artist, manager, label, plugger, all fine, and being a plugger doesn't count against you. No artwork. No bio. No one-sheet. No Dropbox folder with eleven files in it. If we're writing about you we'll ask.

What happens after: We go through submissions weekly. If we're featuring you, you'll hear from us in five to seven working days. We can't give everyone detailed notes if it is a no, we do get a lot of submissions for a small team - but we will try to get back to you. There's too much music and we'd rather be listening.

Things we don't do: Guarantee coverage for money. Post everything we're sent, because then being in it wouldn't mean anything. Turn things around in a day, so if it drops tomorrow we've probably missed it.
