Infectious indie-pop, with a very cute edge. What got us hooked is the very blasé ‘it’ll be healing and stuff’ lyric in THE MIDDLE.
IS DAISY PEACOCK A REGULAR ON OUR PLAYLISTS?
No.
Truthfully, we’re not big on pop.
But it was Daisy’s writing that caught us, hook, line, and sinker.

One song does not an artist make; luckily for us, there are a couple of other tracks from Daisy on Spotify. Starting back in 2023 with YOU DON’T WANT ME ENOUGH, is actually pretty sad lyrically, but very crisp and clean musically.
Skipping BEAUTIFUL and BARE MINIMUM, heading straight to VALENTINE’S DAY. There is already a strong pattern of lyrics; it’s coming-of-age, it is unrequited love, it’s light, bright instrumentals with lyrics that have a lot of heart. The thrumming in the back of this track keeps it feeling weighty.
WHILE IT LASTED, absolutely hooked with the opening line. At this point, we genuinely want to see the lyrics available. “I wonder how different I’d be if you never came into my life”, is a doozy of a hook. At this point, while the lyrics might not be as dry and profanity-filled as those of Lily Allen or Kate Nash, the honesty, humility, and authenticity are pouring through.
GIRLBESTFRIEND, the effect on the vocals on this one suits so well. While it is a little bit hey hey, you should leave your girlfriend (in reverse) - we loved that way back, so this fits nicely. We’re big fans of the break with the guitar in the back, before the drums come raging back in.
Very, very nicely composed, big fans of the 90s feel vocals.
But the reason we are here, THE MIDDLE.
Rising indie-pop artist Daisy Peacock returns with heartfelt yet danceable new single The Middle, out 8th of April 2026 via AWAL.
Charmingly personal lyricism, yet universally relatable,
‘The Middle’ is an upbeat anthem for those who struggle to move on from their past. “I wrote the song in one evening, in a bit of an internal fight between self sabotage and moving on after a brush with an ex. ”Produced by previous collaborator Jamie Sellers (platinum selling producer, with credits including Ed Sheeran and Elton John) ‘The Middle’ is a sparkly, candid reflection on what could have been.Peacock says-
“This song is definitely my most vulnerable yet- which is scary but weirdly thrilling! I’m really proud to see it coming out to the world.”
2026 sees Peacock and band playing a debut headline show at
Birmingham’s iconic Sunflower Lounge in April, as well as a slot at Truck
Festival in July on the back of a successful 2025 when she debuted at Tramlines and YNOT, amongst other UK festivals.
Since her 2023 debut single ‘You Don’t Want Me Enough’ earned her a top 10 spot in both Song Academy’s Young Songwriter Competition 2024 and Citrus Records’ Songs Of The Year list, Peacock has gone from strength to strength within the indie-pop scene. Having recently supported the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, Alfie Jukes, daydreamers, and Courtney Hadwin at venues across the country, as well as playing at Radio 1’s Jodie Bryant’s ‘New Music Monday’ night.
THE MIDDLE feels like a huge step up from past works. Daisy has, from her back catalogue, had a clear style and direction; this track feels like she put her finger right on it. Indie-pop, in all the right ways. We think you can easily feel that it was written during a moment of reflection.
The awkward hug and new dog line, we’ve all been there, grasping at straws just to say something-anything in the moment.
We’ll stand by our assessment earlier, it’s candid in a way that we often see from British indie-pop singers. It’s diaristic, candid, and we’re here for it.
We think we will see a hell of a lot from Daisy in the next year.
We’re gutted to miss her live shows.
We need an album asap.
